Eco-Schools

Since 2019, the Myosotis Foundation child care centers have been involved in obtaining the Eco-Schools label, which is also recognized by UNESCO and UNEP. Thanks to this label, we show our commitment to a more sustainable approach and our will to raise awareness of environmental protection among children and adults.

In 1994, following the Earth Summit, the Foundation for Environmental Education created Eco-Schools. Today, it has become the largest education program for sustainable development in the world, enabling schools and pre-schools to commit to operating in a more sustainable way, while encouraging young people to play a proactive role in society.

Through a 7-step methodology, the label proposes working on a theme previously defined (waste, water, sustainable food, energy, biodiversity and citizenship) by assessing how the organization operates at first and then, by implementing various improvements.

This in-depth reflection on potential improvements is carried out in collaboration with parents, members of the educational team and all the actors working with the childcare (kitchen, housekeeping, management, etc.).

Although the label aims to put in place concrete elements towards a more responsible functioning, its primary goal is obviously to raise awareness among children. In accordance with this, we are setting up activities for children linked to the themes offered. The idea is to awaken them from a very young age to the importance of our environment and ecology.

Labeled since 2020, both Myosotis Foundation child care centers are the first pre-school structures in their respective cantons and the firsts in Switzerland to be awarded this certification.
