ECO-SCHOOLS – Our commitment to a more sustainable future

Since 2019, the Myosotis Foundation’s child care centers have been actively participating in the international Eco-Schools programme, recognised by UNESCO and the United Nations. Through this label, we are affirming our commitment to moving towards a more sustainable approach, while raising awareness among children – from an early age – about protecting the environment.

Eco-Schools is based on a seven-step methodology that guides child care centers through a gradual and concrete process. An environmental theme is chosen every 18 to 24 months (waste, water, sustainable food, energy, biodiversity, citizenship). The teams begin by observing their current operations, then implement improvement measures tailored to childcare life.

This process involves parents and educational teams, as well as all the partners who support the child care center’s day-to-day running (management, kitchen staff, housekeeping, etc.). Everyone contributes in their own way, which reinforces the consistency of the approach and its collective dimension.

Although the label aims to improve our practices in a sustainable way, its priority remains raising awareness among children. We therefore regularly offer activities related to the themes addressed: discoveries in nature, projects around sorting waste, gardening workshops, sensory experiences, civic actions, etc. The objective is simple: to awaken children to the importance of caring for the environment, while respecting their pace.

Certified since 2020, our two child care centers were the first in their cantons – and among the first in Switzerland – to obtain this certification. This label demonstrates a strong commitment from our teams to the families who entrust their children to our care.
